This study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying bio-stimulant doses of commercial Fertiactyl® SD in the early development of corn plants, treated via seeds, and grown in soils of different textures. The experiment was conducted in pots in a greenhouse in Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná State, Brazil, in the year 2012. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 2x4 factorial design with five replicates. The first factor consisted of two soils: one clayey and the other with sandy texture, collected in two different regions. The second factor consisted of four doses of a commercial plant growth regulator (0, 100, 200 and 300 mL 60,000 seeds-1). The bio-stimulant was carried out one hour prior to seeding, in a dark container, where the seed... |

Soil is a finite resource, limited and non-renewable. The type of soil management is crucial to the sustainability of hydrological and productive potential of a watershed. This study aimed to diagnose the current state of the watershed of the Guará River, performing characterizations of the physical and environmental management tools such as use territorial environmental and land. The investigative unit was the soil in order to find the main agents of degradation, and finally recommend the best ways to watershed management, minimizing soil degradation. The land use is the most relevant for agriculture (65.9%) cultivated with soybeans, corn and wheat. The area used for pasture was (11.8%) used for dairy cattle feeding. The watershed has slopes 0-13 degrees,... |

Calcium silicate when applied to the soil may cause changes in the chemical soil since it is a source of silicon, calcium and magnesium. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of calcium silicate on the chemical properties of an Oxisol. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with a randomized complete block design, with five doses of calcium silicate (0, 1.2, 2.4, 4.8 and 9.6 t ha-1) and four replicates. We evaluated the soil chemical properties. Silicon fertilization increases the content of Si, Ca and Mg, pH values, and SB and V%, and reduces the potential acidity (H + Al) of the soil. |

The present study aimed to evaluate the dry matter yield of cover crops cultivated in monoculture and intercropped in a no-till system and its effects on the soil physical properties. The experimental design was of randomized blocks, with four replicates. Treatments used were black oat, black oat + forage radish, forage radish, black oat + field pea, field pea and the control (fallow). After 100 days after sowing the cover crops, the dry matter yield was evaluated, with the highest values found in the intercropped crops. After desiccation, undeformed soil samples were collected for the determination of macroporosity, microporosity, total porosity and soil bulk density in the 0 - 0,10; 0,10 - 0,20; 0,20 - 0,30 and 0,30 - 0,40 m layers. Soil penetration... |

This study aimed to assess the soil density (Sd) and the total organic carbon contents and stocks in different management systems and implementation times in the municipality of Iguatemi, MS, Brazil. A completely randomized design with four replications was applied to four areas: conventional tillage (CT), reformed pasture (RP), and degraded pasture (DP), in addition to a native forest (NF) area with no anthropic action. Disturbed and undisturbed soil samples were collected at depths of 0–0.05, 0.05–0.1, and 0.1–0.2 m. The determination of Sd and total organic carbon content (TOC) allowed calculating the carbon stock (Cstock), the stratification index (SI), and the carbon stock variation (ΔCstock), with subsequent multivariate analysis. The NF area... |
